2009-10 Dowdales School, Dalton, Cumbria (Change School)

'Space for ICT' project focused on developing the ICT department into a more creative learning environment. Project included developing a strong student voice in guiding the process of changes, the theme, design and content.

Refurbishment included rebranding department, new signage incorporating the new logo, colourful space themed murals created from spray paint and printed acrylic decals plus window vinyls to block glare from sunlight.

2010 Henshaw First School and Whitfield First School, Northumberland (Change schools)

'Little People Do Big Thinking Project' explored different creative approaches to learning in response to the children’s questions. Involved; designing, drawing, painting, debates, model making, clay relief and plaster casting sculptures.

Whitfield School chose to culminate their project by publishing a story book containing the pupil's stories inspired by their visit to Belsay Hall. The children illustrated their tales with photo manipulation images created with Jac Scott on the Adobe Photoshop Program. Book designed by Jac Scott.

Henshaw School opted to create two suspended sculptures in the form of two contrasting worlds designed and fabricated by the children. The worlds reflected their views of what the world looked like to them and the other showed how they would like it to be.

2008 - 10  Caldew Lea Primary School, Carlisle

Change Level – Year 1 As lead artist developed a project with staff and pupils focusing on raising communication standards in Years 1 and 2. ‘In the Garden’ project involved a major installation transforming a classroom into a magical garden, creating a mini animation with professional animators and writing stories with author.
 Project culminated in publishing a book of the children’s stories with their own illustrations created with puppets and sets. Book designed by Jac Scott. Special book signing event at city library celebrated the children’s achievement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enquiry level - As lead artist developed a project with school staff that focused on nurturing self esteem, improving self confidence and raising aspirations. Pupils involved in decision making and creation of Big World project including the creation of travelling machines for props in an unscripted public performance led by a dramatist.

2008-9 Viewpoint Project, Pennington Primary School, Ulverston (Change school)

Lead artist for the 1 year project examining the outside learning environment from an ontological perspective: researching how our minds and bodies relate to different spaces.  Working with school staff, scientists and other artists: 2 somatic dancers, a poet and a photographer.

2008 Montreal Primary C of E School

Cleator Moor, Cumbria (Enquiry School)

Students chose to transform the school courtyard into a magic garden complete with upside down children with mirrored faces and giant creatures and insects. The aim was to enhance the space and make it a more creative environment for outdoor learning.

2005-7   Regeneration project.

Working as the lead creative devising, delivering and managing a multi-faceted programme with Parkview School focusing on regeneration.  The 2 year project examined and addressed the subject from perspectives of the immediate school environment and the wider picture of the town’s regeneration plans.

Creative Partnerships North and South Tyneside Health Initiative 2006-7 

Linked with EAT solo exhibition at The Customs House, Sandford Gordie Gallery, South Shields and Rockcliffe Primary School.

Involved in planning, devising and executing a series of gallery and school based workshops that link with both the themes of the exhibition and the CP health initiative.
